One Health in Food Safety: Connecting Human, Animal, and Environmental Health

Join the MSU Global Health Institute for a Mekong One Health Innovation Program (MOHIP) guest lecture led by Dr. Carlos Gonçalo das Neves, Chief Scientist at the European Food Safety Authority, to discuss the importance of One Health approaches in food safety efforts. 

Drawing on expertise from animal health, food safety, wildlife, and emerging diseases, Dr. das Neves will discuss how One Health research methods and collaborative approaches can better address growing food safety challenges.

About the Presenter

Dr. Carlos Gonçalo das Neves is a Portuguese-Norwegian veterinarian with a Ph.D. in veterinary sciences and further certifications in Public Health and Public Policy Analysis. As the former Director of Research and Internationalisation at the Norwegian Veterinary Institute and Professor at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway (2012–2025), he became co-chair of the One Health High-Level Expert Panel (OHHLEP) in 2024 that advises WHO, FAO, UNEP and WOAH. His expertise spans animal health, food safety, wildlife, emerging diseases, and One Health, with numerous publications and leadership in international research projects.
