Research by Michigan State University’s Sullivan lab, led by Dr. Courtney Sullivan, a Global Health Institute faculty member and College of Nursing professor, has been recognized as one of the Top 10 Nursing Posters at the 2026 International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP) Conference.
Dr. Sullivan and her lab’s poster highlighted findings from their PedCaN Quality Improvement (QI) study, which examined the readiness of pediatric cancer centers in Malawi, the Philippines and Singapore to implement nursing quality monitoring systems.
Supported by the Oncology Nursing Foundation, the study focused on assessing how pediatric oncology centers can adopt nursing quality indicators to better monitor care, identify opportunities for improvement and support positive outcomes for children with cancer. According to Sullivan, the project has already produced meaningful improvements at participating sites and is supporting further opportunities for high-quality patient care.
Held this year in San Antonio, TX, the SIOP Congress is the world’s leading multidisciplinary conference dedicated to research in childhood and adolescent cancer. Recognition at the conference and the study's international impact show the continued value of global coordination and the solutions Spartans continue to drive worldwide.
